“I’m going to make it, even if I have to crawl.”  I’ve never forgotten those words.  This is what my friend told me as I prayed with him many years back.  He had endured many struggles in his walk since he first met Christ, but he absolutely refused to give up.  He shed many tears at the altar that night.  He gave up a lot that he had been holding back. It a very good night for him.

I saw him again about a year or so back.  He has continued his walk with Jesus, and has only grown stronger since that night where he had to admit that he couldn’t make it own his own.  He told me that giving it to Jesus was the only thing that truly kept him from giving up.

Psalm 27:14
New International Version (NIV)

14 Wait for the Lord;
    be strong and take heart
    and wait for the Lord.

It is so easy, and sometimes even becoming normal to just give up.  With so many distractions around us to take our minds away from our Savior, we sometimes forget that He does to wish for us to give up, but to run to Him.  It takes determination to not give up.

Crawl if you have to.  Sometimes, you may not have the strength to run anymore.  But get there.  Don’t give on Jesus when you are on your way to Him. When you get to Christ, He will give you rest.  But don’t let the enemy distract you from your journey.

Questions to ask yourself…

  1. Has the lack of determination ever made to want to stop short of the finish line?
  2. Have you ever run out of strength in the race and felt reduced in the Lord’s eyes when you had to crawl?
  3. Have distractions ever taken your mind off of Christ and His outstretched hand when you were on your way to Him?
