Many of us like to keep things to ourselves and never discuss them with another human being.  I’m like that in many areas, especially things that are personal and spiritual.  There were times in my life that I would discuss nothing about my walk with Christ to anyone.  Christ could speak to me, and He and I would be the only ones who would ever know about it.

I finally reached a point where I had to really open up to Christ.  It’s not that He didn’t already know what I was thinking or feeling, but I needed to build that relationship so that I could really grow in Him.  All of that was able to happen as soon as I determined to have an intimate relationship with Him.

John 15:15
New Living Translation (NLT)

15 I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.

Intimacy brings understanding to your relationship with Jesus, along with transparency.  Say this “Into Me See.”  “Intimacy.”  They sound, and mean the exact same thing.  Being so close that there is no confusion, and there’s nothing to be hidden.  Look into me Jesus.  See all there is to see.

With Jesus, we can let it all out.  He never gets tired of hearing what we have to say, and He also understand our pains and our passions.  He is understanding, filled with mercy and grace.  He also has compassion for us.  It’s great to have such a closeness with our loving Savior.

Questions to ask yourself…

  1. Do you have a relationship with Christ that is closer than a parent or a sibling?
  2. Did you know that when there is intimacy with Christ, there’s never loneliness?
  3. Did you know that it brings great joy to Jesus when a disciple takes time to walk more intimately with Him?
